first_imgSony has announced that their new mobile service, PlayStation Mobile, will be available on October 3rd.PlayStation Mobile was originally known as PlayStation Suite and has been talked about for a number of years now, but finally it’s becoming a reality and it’s Sony’s very own way of competing with the mobile gaming market. On launch of PS Mobile, 30 games will be available to download and play. Price range wise, the cheapest games will be around $0.63, a little cheaper than your average mobile app, with the premium games costing around $10.77. Those are converted Japanese prices, so most likely they will become $0.99 through $9.99 in the US.As for what the launch games will be, it seems there’s a mix of third-party games and some from across Sony’s own studios. The details of which are sure to be released as we get closer to launch day.To attract more developers to make games for PlayStation Mobile, a developer kit will be launching in November offering all the tools required to get on the store. Using the developer program will cost $99 a year, which which is comparable to what other app stores do.PS Mobile will be available for PlayStation Certified devices, which includes a growing range of non-Sony mobile devices and of course, the PS Vita. The latest companies to join the Certified program are Fujitsu and Sharp, meaning even more ways to play PS Mobile apps in the near future.With the launch of both PS Plus on PS Vita and PS Mobile just around the corner, Sony really is trying hard to make the Vita a much more desirable investment.
